Abstract

In this article, the importance of friction in toothed belt conveyors is discussed. In order to realize the lowest possible and almost constant motion resistance, an approach is presented that is essentially based on replacing the usual sliding friction with rolling friction. Subsequently, the difference between the two support variants and different drive systems is illustrated by means of experiments. The development of a calculation model then allows the consideration of the individual loss components of the test conveyor and thus the evaluation of the drive and support variants.
