With the increasing digitalization of the logistics industry, innovative virtual methodes of employee qualification are emerging. The following article presents the results of an evaluation study of a PC-based serious game of a packaging workplace that was developed for Schenker AG in Leipzig/Germany and is used for training purposes by new employees. The results of the study are extremely satisfactory: Both the usability and the user experience related to the virtual training are evaluated as positive. The mental workload during the PC game is moderate, the test persons are neither over- nor understrained. All in all, the learning aspects surveyed could be communicated very well; young and older participants were highly motivated. The combination of serious games with virtual worlds represents a new field of research and offers a modern, efficient alternative to classical training methods in intralogistics.Downloads
