In-plant milkruns efficiently provide material to production facilities. In order to design such systems static transport demands are most commonly used. It is recommended to consider an adequate safety buffer as a cush-ion against demand volatility. Therefore, good knowledge about the demand volatility is crucial. This paper introduces an event based modelling approach, which aims to consider non-deterministic demand volatility in in-plant milkruns serving scheduled mixed-model production facilities even in early stages by means of simulation. More-over, results of simulation experiments are presented, which prove the relevance of considering demand volatility.Downloads
