Abstract

Due to the rapid development of virtual reality (VR), the application of this technology is becoming increasingly important in many industrial sectors. Particular focus should be placed on logistics. Besides demonstrations at trade fairs and training in companies, VR can be applied to the planning of logistics systems. Therefore this paper shows the potential of VR in logistics with a focus on planning. In addition, four scenarios are shown in which VR systems with head-mounted displays (HMD, VR-glasses) can be used in the planning process. Focus is placed on interdisciplinary collaboration, complexity, interactivity, costs and flexibility.
