In the field of construction machinery and bulk materi-al handling technology, one of the main reasons for system failures and reduced service life time is the high wear caused by the handling of abrasive, mineral bulk materials and powders. Up to now, standardized test methods for the evaluation of wear-resistant materials only permit qualitative statements on their suitability without considering the respective plant geometry. This article examines the possibility of a standard-ized calibration of wear model parameters in the Discrete Element Method for the quantitative determination of abrasive wear.Downloads
