Abstract

Order picking is one of the most labor intensive tasks in the field of logistics. Because of this it is important to determine the expected process times for this task as precisely as possible. A common approach for the determination of standard times for manual activities during picking is the Methods-Time Measurement (MTM). To define a standard time by MTM, influencing factors have to be specified. This paper shows how the influencing factors can be calculated on the basis of article master data. Furthermore, the difference between an individually determined picking time for each item and the calculation of picking times based on representative influence factors of article groups is compared.
