Known testing methods, to determine wear of currently used engineered textile material, only gave unsatisfactory results. So it became necessary to design a test bench to demonstrate wear under close-to-real application conditions. The used principle is achieved by alternately changing the angel of inclination of the bulk material, which causes the material to move and hence produces wear. In basic experiments polyester based textiles, with and without coating and different bulk materials were tested. From these tests, conclusions can be made, regarding the necessity of coatings and conditions. To verify the principle and the testing equipment successfully, further experiments must be carried out.Downloads
