Abstract

Radio-frequency Identification using the Ultra High Frequency range is increasingly applied in the field of logistics. In order to benefit from the advantages of this AutoID-Technology a reliable identification of the tagged goods has to be ensured. This is often problemat-ic due to complex interactions between the electromag-netic field of the RFID-Installation and the surrounding environment. Thus supplying the passive tags with ener-gy through the field and hence the identification of the tag can be disturbed. Knowing the spatial distribution of the electromagnetic fields strength can be used as a basis for estimating the reliability of the identification and for deriving a suitable configuration of the installation. In this paper a concept and methods for quickly measuring the distribution of the electromagnetic field is presented.
