Abstract

Performance availability as a degree of fulfillment of logistics processes is usually determined while a logistics facility is already in operation. We developed a simulation system to measure the performance availability of a cellular facility logistics system beforehand. The detailed simulation does not only consider the influence of static parameters such as the dimensioning of the facility but also dynamic ones like the vehicles’ behavior or order composition. The real time and VR capabilities of the simulation system allow for the presentation in a VR environment. Intuitive means for interaction and visualization offer an insight into the performance availability of the system and the factors that influence it.
