Up to date, wire ropes and steel chains have been used almost exclusively as means of transmission, connection and security elements in intermittent conveyors, such as cranes and lifts. However, these elements have several disadvantages, like high net mass, low bending flexibility and corrosion sensitivity. In order to comply with new requirements, there is a need to study and develop textile ropes and belts. By using the latest techniques and methods like computed tomography, science is able get knowledge about the lifetime of fiber ropes.Downloads
