Development of a method to generate a data base for optimization systems in maritime empty container logistics

Abstract

This paper presents a procedure for developing a method to generate a realistic data base for numerical experiments in the context of maritime empty container logistics. The method is illustrated by an example. The results should support tests required for empty container logistics scenarios and thus form a basis for the development and evaluation of organizational improvement approaches, mathematical optimization models, corresponding solution algorithms and realistic simulation environments.
