Abstract

Modular production plants in the chemical industry require flexible solutions for intralogistics systems. As a result of increasing volatility in customer demand, it should be possible to exploit the advantages of these production concepts along the entire value chain. Accordingly, intralogistics processes must also meet the volatile requirements of the supply chain, such as fluctuating demand quantities or product types. However, intralogistics processes have not been sufficiently addressed concerning the modular production in the chemical industry. Consequently, this paper presents a procedure for the design of flexible intralogistics units for the supply and distribution of modular production plants. The approach, which is based on modularized planning, is intended to enable planners of intralogistics systems on the operator and manufacturer side to design intralogistics units according to the requirements of the system.
